Experience with all types of buildings
Over the span of 30+ years, we have alleviated fire orders on our clients older buildings located in Lowertown, the Glebe and Downtown Ottawa. We have encountered every problem and have resolved all of them - the Fire Department is very familiar with us.
What is a Fire Retrofit Certificate?
A Fire Retrofit Certificate is a formal document issued by a certified authority (typically the fire department) to verify that certain fire safety upgrades or improvements have been completed in your older existing building to meet current fire safety codes and standards.
This is usually needed when your building has been built before 1990.
Insurance and liabilities
In many cases, property insurance is a condition for securing a mortgage. If a building does not meet fire safety standards, insurance companies may refuse to insure the property, or they may charge significantly higher premiums. This can affect the mortgage approval process.
