What is a fire rated window?
A fire rated window is a type of fire-rated closure specifically designed to withstand the effects of fire for a specified period, preventing the spread of flames, heat, and smoke through the window.
These windows are constructed using special materials, such as fire-resistant glass, frames, and seals, to maintain the structural integrity of fire barriers and compartmentalize the spread of fire within a building.
They can come as fixed windows or openable windows. They are ideal in situations where aesthetics are highly prioritized.
Fire-Resistant Glass
The glass in fire-rated windows is typically made of materials like tempered glass, laminated glass, or intumescent glass, which are treated to resist high temperatures and prevent cracking or shattering during a fire.
They can also be equipped with georgian wire glass.
Fire-Resistant Frames and Seals

Auto-closures

Georgian wire glass offers an economical solution for fire protection with ratings of up to 45 minutes. This product consists of clear annealed glass incorporating a square-patterned wire mesh within the body of the glass. It is not intended for use in impact-rated or safety glazing applications.
