How they Work
Fusible link
The fusible link is a heat-sensitive device that holds the fire shutter in the open position. It is typically made of a metal alloy that melts at a specific temperature.
Testing / maintenance
Regular testing and maintenance of the entire system are crucial to ensure proper functionality during an emergency.
Activation
When a fire occurs, the heat from the flames causes the fusible link to melt. Once it melts, it releases the mechanism that holds the F/R closure open, allowing it to close automatically.
Closure
The closing of the shutter creates a barrier that helps contain the fire and smoke, protecting other areas of the building.
